I would like to share with you all, an incident that happened with me and my roommate in my first year of the college.
It was 2nd March, 2006 and our mid semester exams were going on. 3rd march 10 am we had our introductory accounts ka exam. Our course is always huge and unending so even in mid sems, students tend to remain awake almost whole night. But since it was our first year, we innocently decided to sleep at 3 am. We had slept for not more than an hour, when someone barged in the room and shook us up. May be it was instantaneous reaction of ours, or what, I don't remember. But i ran barefoot, did not even take my cell phone with me. My room happens to be on the first floor and when i came downstairs, I turned back to see my room had caught fire! All i could see was smoke coming out of the storeroom window. All I could think was at that moment was....except me, everything was inside..my laptop, cell phone, books,money,clothes...what not! In some more time, we realized that fire had broke out in the store room and thankfully before sleeping, we had closed the door in between..it prevented the flames to reach the room. But the room was all in the smoke. The fire extinguishers in the blocks did not work and fire brigade did not turn up..i dont remember, may be it wasnt called. We used buckets of sand to put the fire off, that too all by ourselves with warden.

Our whole batch did not give exam and it was postponed till afternoon. Merry making for some who were not close to us. But it was a strenuous exercise, physical and mental pain as well. A short circuit and we lost everything in the store-my empty travelling bags, soiled clothes, roomate's entire wardrobe (mine was in the room so it got saved).

Not only were my closest pals instrumental in putting off the fire, they were supportive after that too. I could not have asked for more!! So contrary to our indifferent college administration..

I owe them a lot..they saved our lives and stood by our side when no one did...
so i dedicate this to all those, to whom i owe a great deal
